Power Point - May 6, 2005

May 6, 2005

That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you being rooted and grounded in love.

--Ephesians 3:17

Wilma Rudolph was in a terrible accident as a child, and the doctors told her that she would never walk again. Wilma, who later became an Olympic runner and champion, reflected back on that time saying, “You know what? The doctors told me I would never walk but my mama said I would walk. I chose to believe my mama.”

A mother’s legacy of faith should be personal, permanent, positive, passionate, promising, and precious. We are living in difficult, dangerous days. Moms, how are you going to raise your children in a world such as this full of crisis, pain, and disappointment? How are you going to prepare your children for the future battles that are ahead in their lives? How are you going to get your faith from this generation to the generations to come?

You will lead and guide them by allowing Jesus to live fully in you. Not just sometimes, but all the time. Not just on Sunday, but every day. Your children will learn so much more about your faith during the demanding times instead of the delightful times. Too many times, Christians in general allow their faith to come and go rather than abiding deeply in their lives. Christian mothers, let you faith in Jesus Christ inhabit, possess, and consume you. Allow Jesus to be the center in your life.

This Mother’s Day, renew your commitment to your family. Men, join your wives in teaching your children to believe in and walk with Christ. It will be the greatest legacy that you can live and give to your children to have a genuine and godly faith. Ask God to give you strength, wisdom, and courage to direct your family. Pray that your children would become men and women of God and fulfill the promise from generation to generation.

ALLOW JESUS TO BE THE CENTER OF YOUR LIFE, AND THAT GENUINE

FAITH WILL NOT ONLY LIVE IN YOU, BUT IT WILL ALSO LIVE IN YOUR FAMILY.
