Understanding where true restoration begins
December 6, 2010
Restore us, O God of hosts;
let your face shine, that we may be saved!
We have a great deal of religion in America today. I was reading a report recently that said the United States is one of the most religious developed countries in the world! But there seems to be very little comparison between the profession of religion and the practice of godliness in our country. And in the midst of this, the Church is silent! Instead of changing America by spreading the Gospel, Christians are conforming to society.
Have you ever gone into a theater or a really nice restaurant and the lights are so low that you can't even see your hand in front of your face? But as you're in there a little longer your eyes get adjusted to the darkness and you can see. That's a great picture of the Church in America today. We've gotten so used to the darkness that we don't even notice it anymore!
And just like the Psalmist prayed in today's passage, the Church in America needs to pray for spiritual restoration for our country. But do you know where revival really begins? It begins in you!
So instead of just praying, "Restore them, O God," make your prayer, "Restore us." Only God can create a restoration that lasts, so let him begin in your heart!
ASK GOD TO RESTORE YOU BECAUSE TRUE REVIVAL BEGINS IN THE HEARTS OF GOD'S PEOPLE.
MY GIFT TO YOU!
I sincerely hope you will request my 10-message series called Straight Up, where I tackle 10 tough questions we all face. Like "When Does Life Begin?" and "Can Love Last a Lifetime?", "Can You Trust the Bible?", and "Are All Religions the Same?"
After listening, you'll be more equipped to live a confident life, knowing the truth and trusting the promises of Christ!
