Foolish Actions

And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.  But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you.”
1 Samuel 13:13-14

It was Samuel’s duty to do the sacrifice; it was written in God’s law.  Saul knew better than to take the opportunity and just to do it.  Samuel made Saul understand, “Listen Saul, you are so foolish! You disobeyed God. You did not sin against man; you sinned against God!” Saul had done a great sin before the Lord. He was in total rebellion against God.

God could no longer use Saul’s life; he was no longer anointed. The Lord was harsh with Saul; He rebuked him for not keeping His commandments. He would be replaced by a better man––a man after God’s own heart. Saul was a man after his own heart. He could have reigned for a long time, but now it was over–– it was the end of his reign.

Circle the word foolishly in your Bible! Take warning and do not be like Saul. Do not fight and argue with people and demand your own way, thinking, I am the captain of my own ship! I am the boss!  If you force labor on yourself and on other people, it will bring division, confusion, anger, and other difficulties within the body of Christ. When people have tried to force themselves into positions, some churches have even died––they no longer exist.

If you are not a man or woman after God’s own heart, then you are not the man of the hour. Unless you match the man or woman after God’s own heart, you will never remain in the perfect will of God. You have to be a man or woman after God’s own heart, which means you are understanding with others, caring, loving, and you obey what God says.

As the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, so denial of God is the height of foolishness.
