Time with God - Aug. 12, 2011

Philippians 4:6-7

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Focusing on God helps you to lift up!

No matter what your circumstances, you can experience peace within.

Does anxiety rule your life? Do you lie awake at night thinking about all the things that could go wrong? Are you constantly worried about things that need to happen, but which are out of your control? Do you find yourself lashing out at people you love, because you have so much inner stress pent up inside you?

God’s message to you today in these two verses of Scripture is this: you can convert anxiety into peace in your heart. How? By learning to bring every issue to God in prayer.

Do you know that God is not anxious about those issues? He is not wringing His hands, wondering how He can possibly respond to them. He knows exactly how to deal with each issue in your life. He is committed to your well-being.

God wants you to learn to trust Him with those things that make you anxious. Has anything ever changed because you were anxious about it? No, but things change when we bring them to God in prayer.

It is important to acknowledge that God will not always work the situation out the way you wanted Him to. But if you begin trusting God with everything, you will soon see that He is trustworthy and you will find His peace in your heart.
