Time with God - Mar. 5, 2010

Friday 5th March

Luke 16:13

No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to have both God and wealth as the great goals of your life—you must choose!

God's message to your heart today is not simply that you should not serve both God and wealth, but rather that "you cannot serve God and wealth"!

Why? Because when you try, very quickly you begin to face conflicts between the two. Then you have to choose. If you fluctuate between God and wealth, you devalue your relationship with God and you'll find yourself drifting away from a close walk with Him.

God doesn't want part of your heart. He doesn't want you to be lukewarm toward Him. In fact, He tells us that He would rather you be totally opposed to Him than lukewarm (Revelation 3:15-17). But most of all, He wants you to be hot—to be totally sold out to Him, allowing no opposition in your heart from any other thing, but only allowing into your heart what God puts there.

God may want you to be very wealthy, but not if wealth is the thing in the center of your heart! Have you chosen God above all else in your life? Why don't you affirm that to Him right now?
