EXTRAVAGANT PROVISION

Romans 5:17

For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

This remarkable verse describes God’s graciousness expressed toward us through His abundant provision. God’s provision for you and for me, through Jesus of Nazareth, is not merely adequate—it is extravagant, beyond anything we could have imagined. And all who receive it will “reign in life.” We are rebellious creatures who were separated from God. God saw that there was only one way to deliver us from that condition: the life of His Son. Jesus accepted the assignment, and the Holy Spirit filled His own role. And through the death of God’s Son, the Kingdom of God was opened to you and me. If you don’t believe that you can trust God―that He will deal with you extravagantly, that He will improve the quality of your life―you’ll never fully trust Him or serve Him with a full heart. You’ll always withhold a part of yourself and imagine that you are a more faithful protector of your interests than Almighty God. His provision is a gift that any person can freely receive. It doesn’t belong to any tradition, to any denomination, to any race or nationality. The Kingdom of God is open to all of humanity.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your extravagant provision through the blood of Jesus Christ. Thank You that You’ve forgiven my sins, cleansed me, and set me free. Thank You that I am sanctified, made holy, set apart to God. Thank You that I am redeemed out of the hand of Satan. What a privilege you have bestowed upon me! In the name of Jesus, amen.
