Priorities

Psalm 50:15 (NIV®)

“Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

I have found that I usually receive from God when I am crying out to Him in desperation. Sometimes we try to be coy with God. “God, if you want to do something for me, I’ll take it. But it’s no big deal, I have a plan.” Imagine if I invited you to my house that way. “If you want to come by, it’s OK. I’m not sure when I’ll be there, but I’d be happy to see you . . . sometime . . . if I’m there.” You probably wouldn’t take me up on that offer. Why would we think that Almighty God would respond to us when we are being so coy? Being desperate before the Lord is not a bad thing. He wants to hear us call on Him. And when we experience His deliverance, He wants to hear our words of gratitude and thanksgiving.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I repent for the times I have been coy with You––not making You a priority––and ask that you forgive me. I want You to be Lord of my whole life. I want Your plans for me more than my own, and I invite You to show me places that I have not yielded my own plans to You. Thank You for Your deliverance and for the grace You give when I am stubborn and choose my own path. I love You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
