Proverbs 28:20 (NIV®)
A faithful man will be richly blessed.
God has a plan for our good. I don’t know why, but I find that many of us have a perpetual struggle to believe this. We have this nagging sense that if we say yes to God without reservation we will forfeit something good―pleasure or freedom or opportunity or resources. We believe that we will be rewarded in eternity, but for now we worry that we will be denied something. This is not a biblical idea. In fact, the consistent message of Scripture is that God rewards our faithfulness and our trust in Him. This has certainly proven true in my life. When I’ve been willing to cooperate with God―even when I feel like I’ve sacrificed something to do it―He’s always given me something better in return.
THINK ABOUT IT
Can you remember a time when you sacrificed something that seemed very important in order to cooperate with God? What were the results?
Heavenly Father, Your faithfulness is promised to Your people through all generations. I recognize my frailty and my need for a Savior. Holy Spirit, direct my steps, and Father, please forgive my sins. I forgive those who have brought pain to my life. I choose to keep my eyes on Jesus. I accept Your invitations and say no to selfish indulgence. Today I choose to become an encourager of those who are pursuing Almighty God. I want to honor You with my life and my resources. In Jesus’ name, amen.
