Candace Cameron Bure Responds to Age-Related Criticism with Grace

Candace Cameron Bure is addressing the frequent social media comments about her age — and sharing how she chooses to respond with grace. The Great American Family actress and filmmaker revealed in an Instagram story this week that she gets "countless" messages each day about her appearance. One example she shared read, "U look really old here … not aging well?"
Bure expressed concern over how such comments might affect young people who are also active on social media, highlighting the broader impact of online criticism.
"As much as I love connecting on social media, this is one of the downfalls," Bure wrote. "I'm a middle-aged woman and can handle rude people. Imagine how this affects our children."
An outspoken Christian, Bure said she doesn't punch back but instead prays for the person. In another Instagram story, she wrote she isn't looking for sympathy but simply "to show the kinds of messages I receive daily. DAILY!!"
Bure is 49.
"Aging is sensitive," she wrote. "Comments like this hurt, no matter whether they meant to be mean-spirited or just a shared 'opinion.' As I embrace aging, I'm choosing to do it as naturally and as gracefully as possible. I imagine the people who write these kinds of messages are reflecting what they are personally feeling about their own self to some degree. I feel sad for them and pray for their hearts to know the love of God.
"Be kind. Uplift others. Spread joy," she concluded.
Bure is known to Great American Family fans for such movies as A Christmas...Present and My Christmas Hero. She's also the lead in Great American Family's Ainsley McGregor Mysteries series.
She later posted a video on her Instagram story, expressing gratitude to fans.
"I wanted to thank so many of you for very, very kind messages today. I didn't want the kind ones to go unnoticed. So thank you. They were very encouraging, and I appreciated them very much."
Bure said she's currently reading a new book, Dane Ortland's Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers -- recommended by a friend. God, she said, "chooses the right timing for everything."
"I just feel like this book is perfect timing, too," she said.
