Candace Cameron Bure Warns Horror Movies Can Be a ‘Portal’ for Evil

Is your media consumption opening the door to the enemy? Candace Cameron Bure and her family talk candidly about how even "entertainment" can invite demonic influence.
Candace Cameron Bure Warns Horror Movies Can Be a ‘Portal’ for Evil

Author and filmmaker Candace Cameron Bure says in a new podcast that she avoids scary movies, believing they can serve as a gateway for Satan to introduce evil into her home. Bure addressed the issue of movies during a podcast discussion with her son Lev Bure and a guest, Pastor Jonathan Pokluda of Harris Creek Baptist Church in Texas, as the three discussed their boundaries in media consumption.

The Great American Family actress joked that her children make fun of her stance.

"I'm like, 'You're opening up a portal' -- like if you're watching this, or you're playing this video game or whatever, that's a portal that could let stuff inside our home. I don't even want someone watching a scary movie in our house on the TV because, to me, that's just a portal," Bure said on an episode of The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast

"Listen, I'm in the film industry. I understand how it all works. I know that a movie specifically has a crew of 200 people, and they're lighting it, and they're adding the sound effects, and it's makeup and camera people and actors. However, there's still something that can be incredibly demonic while they've made it, and I feel like it's a portal that gets opened up and let in."

Pokluda agreed with Bure on the concept of the portal, acknowledging he sparked a controversy on social media in February by announcing he will no longer purchase Liquid Death water: "They are asking you to sell your soul to them and hired a witch to curse their drinks. Spread the word," he wrote

He parroted a typical response to his opinion: "Okay, Karen," and, "They're just kidding."

"This is how [Satan] works," Pokluda said on the podcast. "I'm telling you. He tries to disguise under that stuff."

Satan wants people to be naive, Pokluda added.

"I've heard of actors and actresses learning witchcraft to better understand a role, actually casting spells through the TV," he said.

"And then you're speaking it into all these homes if you're watching it on TV, like those are real witchcraft words," Bure added.

Lev Bure said his position on movies is even more conservative than his mother's.

"If we're not worshiping God, if we're not giving God our time, then there's a void that's only going to be filled by evil," Lev Bure said. "And I think just the acknowledgement of that makes you want to stand up and fight knowing you're under attack."
