Brad Arnold Gives Hopeful Cancer Update Rooted in Faith

Brad Arnold, the lead singer of 3 Doors Down, shared an encouraging update regarding his cancer treatment earlier this month. Arnold, who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in May, shared a quote from theologian Thomas Merton on his Instagram account, stating, "What am I? I am myself a word spoken by God. Can God speak a word that does not have any meaning?"

In the accompanying caption, Arnold wrote, "We were formed with the same breath, indeed with the same force that formed all that we've ever known, all that is."

"We were…YOU WERE formed with the same attention to detail and individuality that were given to the oceans above and the oceans below," wrote Arnold.

"Never EVER doubt that YOU have a purpose. Well, what is my purpose, you ask…to worship God," he added. "Put God first instead of your feelings, even your well-being, and watch God's purpose for your life spring to life."

"Also, a lot of folks asked how I was doing the other day," he added.

Arnold also thanked his followers for praying for him, and his health has slightly improved.

"I'm doin' great, fam! Almost every day, I feel a little better. Things seem to be going great. Thank you for every prayer you all have prayed," the Grammy Award-winning singer said.

He concluded his post by asserting that God never fails, Church Leaders reported.

"With so much faith behind me and my own faith within me, I have no doubt of the outcome of this fight," he said. "God will continue to fight this [battle] for me…and God doesn't fail. I love y'all!"

During a concert last year at Hersheypark Stadium in Pennsylvania, Arnold surprised fans with a message on God's love in contrast to the lie pushed on social media that we'll never be truly loved and that we'll never "win."

"My friends, I just want to take a second to tell you — that's an absolute lie," he said. "You are loved. You are enough, and you will win. Not only can you win, but you will win. You'll always be enough for one reason, and that's because Jesus Christ loves you."

Reflecting on that experience in an episode of the "Culture and Christianity" podcast, Arnold told host and pastor Allen Jackson he managed to share the love of Jesus with about 680,000 people during his tour last summer.

"That is the highlight of my career if I never get to do anything else," he said. "I'm so thankful that God allowed me to do that."
