Charlie Kirk Says Marriage Could Shift Taylor Swift’s Political Views and Priorities in Life

Conservative commentator and co-founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, hopes that pop megastar Taylor Swift will become more conservative following her recent engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce."Maybe one of the reasons why Taylor Swift has been so, just kind of annoyingly liberal over the last couple of years, is because that she's not yet married and she doesn't have children," Kirk said on Tuesday's episode of "The Charlie Kirk Show."
The power couple, who began dating in 2023, announced their engagement on Instagram on Tuesday, with Swift writing, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
In response to the news, Kirk hopes that the couple would end up becoming more conservative once they get married, Church Leaders reported.
"I say this, non-sarcastically. I say this as a husband and a father," Kirk continued. "Having children changes you. Getting married changes you. And I hope that America's biggest pop star marrying the pharmaceutical spokesperson ends up conservatizing them."
Kelce, who plays as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is a spokesperson for Pfizer, a prominent biopharmaceutical company that produced one of the COVID-19 vaccines.
"Taylor Swift might de-radicalize herself. She might come back down to reality," Kirk added. "I want them to have lots of children. It teaches you something about yourself."
"Deep down, I think Taylor Swift actually was raised as a conservative that has gotten kind of caught up in this metropolitan liberal stuff, and she doesn't quite have an attachment to the conservative backbone that she was raised in," Kirk said.
"And I'm not saying this sarcastically," the conservative commentator reiterated. "I've seen this happen time and time again. When people start to get married and have children, it starts to change your politics. It starts to clarify your worldview."
Kirk noted that Swift has been a prominent supporter of candidates within the Democratic party and hopes that by having children, she "might go from a cat lady to a J.D. Vance supporter."
He also commended Kelce for his ring choice, stating, "That is some impressive carats right there. That right there has [its] own zip code. I'm impressed."
"All kidding and sarcasm aside, this is something that I hope will make Taylor Swift more conservative, engage in reality more and get outside of the abstract clouds, reject feminism," Kirk said
"Submit to your husband, Taylor. You're not in charge," he stressed, "And most importantly, I can't wait to go to a Taylor-Kelce concert."
"You got to change your name. If not, you don't really mean it. Congratulations, Taylor," Kirk concluded.
Swift, who was raised in a Christian household, has been met with criticism from conservative Christians for her support of abortion and the LGBTQ+ community. Her 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department, featured songs that were considered blasphemous. In the song "Guilty As Sin," for example, Swift sings: "What if I roll the stone away?/They're gonna crucify me anyway/ What if the way you hold me is actually what's holy."
Evangelist Shane Pruitt, who serves as National Next Gen Director for the North American Mission Board, warned that "lyrics matter."
"As Christians who are filled with the Spirit," Pruitt warned, "should we be entertained by, sing with, and expose our kids to lyrics that aren't just different than what you believe, but are actually mocking what you believe?"
Christian actor Kirk Cameron, who was featured in "Growing Pains", said that Swift's latest album amounts to "discipleship" for young people and warned that "she mocks God in her lyrics," The Christian Post reported.
"What do you get when a billionaire pop star releases an album with provocative artwork, lyrics that mock God, glorify rebellion, and celebrate explicit sin? You get the most powerful sermon that America's youth will hear this year," Cameron said. "She mocks God in her lyrics. She normalizes sin, she glorifies lust and rebellion as if this was womanly empowerment. Her songs are not just music. This is discipleship."
"She doesn't have any kids of her own, but raising kids is hard. Why get into all that when she can just disciple your kids and train them up in the way that she would like for them to go?" he added.
Congratulations @taylorswift13
