Chris Pratt, Patricia Heaton Promote 21-Day Daniel Fast Prayer Challenge

Chris Pratt, Patricia Heaton, and other faith-based Hollywood actors are encouraging their social media followers to participate in a 21-day "Daniel Fast" prayer challenge through the Catholic prayer and meditation app, Hallow.
According to CBN News, the challenge features sessions from Pratt, Heaton, and author Jeff Cavins, reading from the biblical Book of Daniel, and discussing the different aspects of fasting.
“The new year is here, and I know that after the holidays, I need a little reset, in my mind, my body, and my prayer life. Things get a little chaotic, so it’s time to reel it back in,” Pratt told his followers as he announced he was participating in the fast on Instagram.
“I love the book of Daniel, between the fires and the lions, it gives me the motivation I need to give up a few comforts in my life for God,” he added. “Would love for you to join me, download Hallow at hallow.com/chris and kick your new year prayer habit off right.”
Pratt previously joined The Chosen actor Roumie and actor Mark Wahlberg last year to encourage believers to spend time with God using Hallow during Lent, which is the 40-day period of praying, fasting, and repenting before Easter/Resurrection Sunday.
Roumie himself shared that he would be participating in the 21-day prayer challenge.
"What does that look like for you? Is it fasting from certain foods? Perhaps giving up alcohol? Or committing to get your body - that temple of the Holy Spirit - into the best shape of your life; the kind of shape God designed for you!? As for me, I will be doing a combination of those things in order to draw closer to Him this year," he wrote on Instagram.
Heaton, who announced the challenge through Hallow’s Facebook page, shared that the fasting can entail surrendering the time spent on their phones, money spent on "unnecessarily purchasing things," fasting the "unkind words we speak to others, or "whatever it is that keeps us from living fully as God desires us in our lives."
During one session on the Hallow app, the Everybody Loves Raymond actress explained that "Fasting gives birth to prophets and strengthens the powerful; fasting makes lawgivers wise. Fasting is a good safeguard for the soul, a steadfast companion for the body, a weapon for the valiant, and a gymnasium for athletes. Fasting repels temptations, anoints unto piety; it is the comrade of watchfulness and the artificer of chastity. In war, it fights bravely, in peace, it teaches stillness."
