Christian Apologist Wesley Huff Reflects on Family Hardships and God’s Faithfulness

Christian apologist Wesley Huff recently shared how hectic his life has been this year after he rose to prominence following his appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast back in January. Huff, the Central Canada director at Apologetics Canada, shared several highlights of his life in the past year in a video posted on Monday to his YouTube channel, Church Leaders reported. “It’s been more than I could have imagined,” Huff said. “While overwhelming at times, God’s sovereignty is all over it and undeniable.”
Regarding the “wild timing” of events, “I couldn’t have orchestrated any of this…even if I had wanted to.” He added, “It’s clearly and entirely all been a God thing.”
Prior to his appearance on Rogan’s podcast, Huff noted he was overwhelmed with emails that included “everything from debate challenges, encouragement, testimonies, questions, critiques, threats” to the point where he and his assistant “just could not keep up.”
Two weeks before Rogan’s podcast, Huff’s wife feared she was miscarrying their fourth child, a baby boy who has since been born successful. At the time, however, she was placed on a modified bedrest for weeks, with three small children at home.
Prior to their fourth child being born, the family moved out of a two-bedroom condo into a house that Huff never had a chance to see in person. Shortly after the move, Huff traveled overseas to film his series, “Can I Trust the Bible?”
According to Huff, one of his children experienced a “pretty serious medical emergency” in March that was very frightening and left “a lot of unanswered questions.” Nevertheless, he was grateful for other people, including Huff’s church family, who were “such an incredible provision and means of grace to us.”
He also shared that his daughter had “another medical emergency” last week, with another hospital stay, more tests, and “more worry and unanswered questions.”
Although the diagnosis remains unclear, he said people continue to support his family. Huff also contended “that God is in control and that none of this is possible outside of [God’s] clear direction and planning.”
In his life update video, Huff also shared how his hectic life has affected his academic journey to completing his PH.D in New Testament at Wycliffe College (University of Toronto) and his imminent opportunity to serve as the vice president of Apologetics Canada, which he describes as “an exciting opportunity that will allow my work to only increase.”
Overall, Huff thanked God despite everything he has faced this year whether its speaking to thousands of people, completing a “dream project” for work, or “sitting in a hospital room holding my wife’s hand, scared that my daughter isn’t going to make it.
“My life outside of the internet is probably as full as it could possibly be. But amidst all of that, God is good.”
