Costi Hinn Sounds the Alarm on Kathryn Krick: ‘She Is a False Teacher’
Pastor Costi Hinn recently weighed in on Kathryn Krick, a self-professed apostle who recently made headlines for her deliverance ministry.
In a recent episode of the “Relatable” podcast, Allie Beth Stuckey asked Hinn about the “Kathryn Krick phenomenon,” Church Leaders reports.
“She has been going viral all over social media, this woman who claims to have been an ordained apostle, can heal people, can exorcise demons just from being in someone’s mere presence at Barnes & Noble,” said Stuckey, who previously warned about Krick in a prior episode in July.
Hinn, who serves as the teaching pastor at Shepherd’s House Bible Church in Chandler, Ariz., and the founder and president of the online ministry For the Gospel, warned about Krick, who calls herself an apostle.
When Hinn hears that title, “my spiritual radar goes up.”
“I want to do as 1 John tells us,” he said. “I want to test the spirits.”
Hinn then encouraged people to “slow down” and to ask, “What does the Bible say about an apostle?”
“Well, they’ve been an eyewitness to Jesus Christ,” Hinn answered. “They have been given the ability to do signs and wonders, and they were established and confirmed in the early church.”
“And then you look at the Bible, and you see no affirmation that there’ll be more apostles coming or to look for new apostles,” he said. “You only see warnings about false apostles,” such as the apostle Paul’s warning about “false apostles and deceitful workers.”
Hinn also cited from Ephesians 2:20, which states “that the apostles were the foundation of the church.”
He added, “So, we don’t have new apostles.”
Stuckey also addressed how Krick asks her followers for money to receive deliverance, and that any criticism of her is considered blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
In response, Hinn said that the accusation of blaspheming the Holy Spirit is “very serious.”
“The blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is so clear as the outright and ultimate rejection of the Spirit’s conviction concerning Christ and to reject Jesus Christ,” Hinn explained. “The Pharisees committed that sin because they looked at Christ and said, ‘You are doing the work of the devil.’”
Hinn contended that it’s not blasphemous against the Holy Spirit when calling out false teachers.
“You’re not committing the work of blaspheming the Holy Spirit when you call out the truth,” said Hinn. “Also, casting out demons or praying for people who are demonized or demon-possessed is not evidence that you’re some apostle.”
In conclusion, Hinn considered Krick to be a false teacher.
“The gospel is free. Deliverance is free. And that’s my main concern with Kathryn Krick,” said Hinn as he concluded his thoughts. “People want to talk about spiritual gifts and get all into the other debates. No problem. I love my Pentecostal friends. She is a false teacher.”
“And I have dear, beloved Pentecostal friends who are calling that out, too,” he observed. “And that tells you something. We’re unified on what is darkness, and it’s not the light.”
Hinn, whose uncle is Word of Faith preacher Benny Hinn, grew up and served alongside his uncle in ministry until he met his wife, Christyne, who played a pivotal part in his conversion and subsequent departure from the prosperity gospel.
In a 2018 blog post titled “Benny Hinn Is My Uncle but Prosperity Preaching Isn’t for Me,” he explained that he and his family were nervous because Christyne didn’t speak in tongues, even after taking her to a Benny Hinn crusade.
She later pointed to him the Scripture from 1 Corinthians 12:30, which states, “Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?”
Hinn recalled feeling “shook to the core” as he realized not every professing Christian spoke in tongues, which subsequently led him to abandon other beliefs, such as that “God’s purpose was to make me happy, healthy, and wealthy.”
“Instead, I saw that He wanted me to live for him regardless of what I could get from Him,” he added.
