Israel Responds to Houthi Missile Attack as Tensions Rise in the Middle East

Israel has launched retaliatory airstrikes at the Yemeni capital of Sanaa on Sunday in response to recent Houthi-launched ballistic missiles that triggered sirens in Israel. According to Yemen's health officials, six people were killed and dozens were injured after Israeli airstrikes targeted a military base near Yemen's presidential palace, along with two power plants and a fuel depot. "Whoever attacks us, we attack them," Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu contended. "Whoever plans to attack us, we attack them. I think the entire region is learning Israel's might and determination."

On Friday, the Houthis launched ballistic missiles that had a cluster bomb warhead, which disperses several tiny bomblets over a larger area.

"We continue to impose an air and naval blockade and are striking infrastructure targets that are used to promote Houthi terrorism. For every missile they launch at Israel, the Houthis will pay with interest," Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated.

Katz also likened Israel's response to the 10 plagues in Egypt, as described in the Book of Exodus.

"Today we brought a plague of darkness on the Houthis," Katz warned, "And later there will also be a plague of the death of the firstborns."

Katz previously warned that the "Gates of hell will soon open over Hamas murderers and rapists in Gaza, until they agree to Israel's conditions for ending the war, primarily the release of all hostages and their disarmament."

The attacks come as the Israeli Defense Force began bombing the eastern and northern outskirts of Gaza City over the weekend, as the military increased its presence in northern Gaza to end the war and secure the release of the remaining hostages, CBN News reported.

At the present time, tens of thousands of reservists are scheduled to report for duty on September 2nd.

On Sunday, Abdul Qader al-Murtada, a senior Houthi official, said that the Houthis, who control the majority of Yemen's population, will continue supporting Palestinians in Gaza, Reuters reported.

"(Israel) must know that we will not abandon our brothers in Gaza, whatever the sacrifices," he said on X.
