Josh Buice Removed as G3 Ministries’ Pastor after Admitting to Attacking Pastors on Social Media

The board of G3 Ministries, a Reformed Baptist ministry in the United States, announced on Monday they have removed Josh Buice, who founded G3 and serves as Pastor of Pray Mills Baptist Church (PMBC). The PMBC elders found "irrefutable evidence" that he had slandered pastors and fellow church leaders online using a number of anonymous social media accounts.

"In recent weeks, the elders of PMBC uncovered irrefutable evidence that Dr. Buice has, for the past three years, operated at least four anonymous social media accounts, two anonymous email addresses, and two Substack platforms," the statement published on Monday reads.

Buice then used these accounts "to publicly and anonymously slander numerous Christian leaders, including faithful pastors (some of whom have spoken at G3 conferences), several PMBC elders, and others. These actions were not only sinful in nature but deeply divisive, causing unnecessary suspicion and strife within the body of Christ, and particularly within the eldership of PMBC."

Despite being asked on "multiple occasions over the past two years" whether he used such accounts, Buice "denied any knowledge of them." However, Buice ultimately confessed his actions to PMBC elders after they found "clear and comprehensive evidence emerged linking the accounts directly to him" on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

"Since then, Josh has acknowledged his sin, expressed sorrow, and asked for forgiveness. His desire is to personally ask forgiveness of every person he has slandered or lied to," the statement added.

Although Buice told the elders he is "presently disqualified" from serving as an elder at PMBC, they believe that his sin doesn't permanently disqualify him at this time. The ministry also stated that Buice acted alone in this matter outside the knowledge of G3 employees and board members.

Despite his removal, Buice's content will remain "accessible via the G3 website and G3+." Meanwhile, this year's G3 national conference in Atlanta, Georgia, was canceled, as well as all 2025 workshops.

"All registrants, exhibitors, and publishers will receive a full refund of registration fees. G3 plans to continue G3+, G3 Press, the G3 Student Retreat, and other media content. As we look to the ministry's future, we will prioritize the publication of helpful biblical content that strengthens the church and avoids the dangerous celebrity culture that has unfortunately come to characterize so much of modern evangelicalism," the board stated.

Buice resigned as President of G3 Ministries after G3 board members encouraged him last Thursday (May 8) to step down. Additionally, PMBC elders asked him to take an "indefinite leave" from the church until "a more detailed path forward" is presented.

"The elders are committed to walking alongside Josh in a long process of biblical counseling and discipline, seeking genuine fruit in keeping with repentance," the statement added.

In a similar statement posted by PMBC, the church issued a call to prayer for Buice, his family, and for Buice's repentance. Meanwhile, G3 called for continued prayers and support for the ministry in continuing their mission "to educate, encourage, and equip local churches with sound biblical theology for the glory of God."

"We grieve for the harm caused to the body of Christ and to those faithful ministers who were targeted. We likewise reaffirm our commitment to walk in the light, to speak the truth in love, and to labor together for the building up of Christ's church in holiness and unity."

Several G3 board members expressed their grievances on social media after the announcement was made.

"I cannot express how grieved I am about this. Please pray for G3 Ministries and especially for Pray's Mill Baptist Church," Scott Anoil, Executive Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of G3 Ministries, wrote on X.

Virgil Walker, G3's Vice President of Ministry Relations, remarked, "As you can imagine, we are heartbroken over this news. Please pray for G3 Ministries and our team."

"This past week has been one of the most painful and difficult times in my entire ministry," wrote pastor Tom Buck, who is on the G3 Board, as he was "deeply grieved" by the announcement.

"I am thankful for the faithfulness of all the men on the G3 Board, and I stand fully behind our decision. We have sought to be fully transparent, and all our actions have been made after many tears, hours of deliberation, and earnest prayer before the Lord."
