NFL Rookie Traeshon Holden Publicly Declares Faith in Christ through Baptism

Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Traeshon Holden recently announced that he has been baptized and shared footage of the event on social media. In a video posted to X, Holden is seen walking into a baptism pool before two men submerge him. After Holden is pulled out of the water, the congregation erupts in applause.
"Thank you, Lord, for this day," Holden wrote in the caption, with the video playing Chris Tomlin's song, "Jesus Messiah," in the background.

Holden, an undrafted rookie who played college football at Alabama and Oregon, previously spoke about his Christian faith in public. After he signed a deal with the Cowboys in May, Holden said, "Everything happens for a reason," reflecting on his career up to that point.

Holden maintained his optimism about his future despite not being selected in the NFL Draft. He also signed a three-year, $2.9 million contract with the Cowboys, which included a team-low $3,000 signing bonus. However, the agreement does not guarantee money if he gets cut.
In response to a comment on why other players were being drafted with less production than he did in college, Holden asserted that his time will come.
"The lord don't make no mistakes," he wrote on April 26.

A few days earlier, Holden posted the Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11 in an X post on April 24, the first day of the 2025 NFL Draft.
"I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,'" the scripture states.

Holden announced his intention to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft back in January and reflected on his collegiate football career with the University of Oregon Ducks.
"First and foremost, I want to give all thanks to God for allowing me to be in this position to fulfill a childhood dream," he said at the time.

Holden spent much of his high school football career playing at St. Frances Academy, a Catholic high school in Baltimore, Maryland. He later played for the University of Alabama for three seasons and transferred to the Ducks for his final two years of college.

If there is one word that sums up Kirk Cousins, it’s CONSISTENCY. On the field, Kirk is one of the most efficient passers in NFL history, tallying 42,979 passing yards and 288 touchdowns, leaving him 6th all-time in completion % for QBs with at least 1,500 pass attempts and 11th in the NFL’s all-time regular-season career passer rating. However, the most impressive thing in our eyes is that no matter what result Kirk experiences on the field, he consistently displays his devotion to both his faith and his family. Yes, he’s an NFL veteran QB, but more importantly, he’s a man on a mission to share the good news of the gospel and to be a beacon of hope, light, and love to a dark and hurting world. Tune in to today’s conversation as Zach and Kirk unpack the last several years of Kirk’s journey, specifically this last year and what it’s like to once again be faced with the challenge of the unknown. As Kirk mentions, “I may not know what the future holds, but I do know WHO holds my future.” Be inspired today to hear how sometimes looking back can be the best way to move forward, as it’s the practice of remembrance that often fuels our level of confidence and resilience for the road ahead!
