Patricia Heaton Warns Christians of Incoming 'Onslaught' of Arrogance, Ignorance following Trump's SCOTUS Pick

Patricia Heaton, who is best known for her role in the hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, warned of an imminent anti-religious onslaught as President Trump plans to announce a Supreme Court nominee in the wake of the passing of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

“Friends, be prepared for social media to be filled with an onslaught of arrogant pronouncements based on breathtaking ignorance of religion in general, Christianity specifically and Catholicism in particularly by people who wouldn’t recognize God if He bit them on the bum.” Heaton, a professing Catholic, seemingly wrote in regards to the impending nomination on Sunday.

Faithwire reports that President Trump has confirmed that his nomination will be a woman. Many have pointed to Amy Coney Barrett, a circuit judge on the Chicago based U.S Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit as a potential successor to Ginsberg’s seat on the Supreme Court.

Barrett had previously served as a law clerk to the late Justice Antonin Scalia and as a law professor at Notre Dame for 15 years. She is considered to be at the top of President Trump’s shortlist of SCOTUS nominees.

According to Faithwire, Barrett was appointed to the Seventh Supreme Court Circuit by Trump in 2017. At the time, she was strongly criticized by several U.S Senators for her Catholic faith upon her first confirmation as a district judge.

“It is never appropriate for a judge to apply their personal convictions whether it derives from faith or personal conviction,” Barrett said at the hearing.

“The dogma lives loudly within you,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) told Barrett. “That’s of concern.”

According to Axios, Barrett reportedly met with President Trump at the White House on Monday. Trump also plans to meet with another SCOTUS candidate, Justice Barbara Lagoa of the Florida Supreme Court on Friday, as the President continues his campaign rallies.

On Tuesday morning, Trump tweeted that his Supreme Court nominee will be officially announced this Saturday at the White House.
