Police Respond after Man with Knife Approaches Ray Comfort’s Ministry

Evangelist Ray Comfort is thanking God for the safety of his wife and staff, after a man broke into the Living Waters Ministry warehouse last week, armed with a knife. "That afternoon, we spotted one of our executive staff members in the ministry parking lot staring at his car," Comfort told CBN News concerning the incident that took place on July 20. "He was on the phone with the police — someone had tried to break into his vehicle. Whoever it was damaged it, but wasn't able to get into the vehicle."
His wife, Sue, was shocked after seeing what took place when she reviewed the surveillance footage.
"A man wearing a hoodie walked onto the property, then went onto the roof and checked a door," Comfort noted. "When he couldn't open it, he came back down, walked to the car…tried to break into it. Then brazenly wandered over to one of our warehouse garages — and crawled under the door."
Comfort's team then called the police after the man barricaded himself inside the warehouse and was armed with a knife. According to the evangelist, the scene was described as a "scene straight out of a movie."
Authorities managed to arrest the perpetrator, who remains unidentified, and was taken to a local hospital.
Despite what happened, Comfort described the moment as "providential" because Sue did not visit the warehouse that day, where she typically goes on the weekends to prepare.
"It was unusual for her not to go to the ministry," he told CBN News. "So we were thanking God for her decision not to go."
Although the suspect's motives are unknown, police told Comfort that drugs were involved. Overall, the evangelist asserted that events such as this can initially cause fear, but they are also reminders to think about God's purposes.
"The Bible says that my steps are ordered by the Lord," he said. "I, therefore, can never be in the wrong place at the wrong time. If I commit my way to God, no matter where I go, I'm in the right place at the right time."
"And I know that whatever happens it will work out for my good — because of the wonderful promise of Romans 8:28. That gives me daily strong consolation."
