Shane & Shane Launch SBC Worship to Support Local Church Leaders

Christian worship duo Shane & Shane has launched SBC Worship, a new collaboration that aims to equip and unite worship leaders throughout the Southern Baptist Convention. SBC Worshipwhich was announced at the SBC's Annual Meeting in Dallas last month, will feature curated training, resources, and events designed specifically for SBC churches. A free community membership is also available on the platform, with additional premium features and training available for a fee.

To direct the platform's development, an advisory board including over thirty leaders from various denominations has been establishedThe Christian Post reported.

"There is more collaboration in the SBC than ever before," said Robbie Seay, executive vice president of leader development and content at The Worship Initiative. "Seminaries, universities, state leaders, and churches are partnering together to serve local worship leaders in a way that is unprecedented."

"We celebrate the diversity of our churches," he said, noting that SBC Worship is not limited to a particular music style or aesthetic and that worship teams range from choirs and orchestras to one-person-led acoustic groups.

Seay added, "This is about worship leader development and support."

Shane & Shane, composed of Christian artists Shane Barnard and Shane Everett, founded The Worship Initiative in 2014 in response to the lack of pastoral training among musically gifted worship leaders. Since its inception, the platform has offered over 1,000 resources, including tutorials, devotionals, Bible studies, and theological training.

"Our passion is just to care for these folks who are on the front lines of ministry," Barnard told The Christian Post. "We want to give them the right handholds to walk by faith into that position and be able to do it well."

The worship duo also provided what is known as "Selah moments" at last month's SBC meeting as they led worship amid a tense-filled week of theological debates and division in the denomination.

"It's pretty nuts," Barnard said of the experience. "Just the mighty roar of thousands of pastors and their wives singing praise to Jesus — it was amazing."
