‘Endless Garbage’: Stella Parton Calls Out AI Content Created After Dolly’s Passing
Artificial intelligence and its creations are seemingly anywhere and everywhere. However, Stella Parton, the sister of the late country music icon Dolly Parton, is not a fan, particularly of AI-generated content that has been created of Dolly since her passing. Stella has come out strong, slamming AI-generated content created in the wake of Dolly's death and those behind it.
Parton made her thoughts and opinions on the subject entirely clear with a post on Instagram. Her post started with her thanking everyone who has shown her family "genuine support and love during this time." She added that they will "be okay" and that every "human being experiences pain and loss" differently, and that her family is no different in that aspect.
Next, she stated that the proliferation of AI-generated content of her late sister has made the grieving process more difficult.
“Sadly, because of the ways our lives have been lived in front of the public, we have no choice but to be subjected to incredible pressure and insensitivity from strangers,” Stella Parton wrote in the post.
“There is a tremendous amount of AI and endless garbage being posted everyday and it’s been challenging to absorb and or ignore,” she continued. “As time passes, those who are in the business of exploiting the loss and tragedies of others on a daily basis will move on to the next stampede of endless misinformation.”
According to The Christian Post, it was unclear what type of AI-generated content Stella Parton was referring to.
Dolly Parton passed away Aug. 25 at age 80 after battling cancer.
The outlet went on to state that several AI-generated posts of the late “Jolene” singer have been made following her death, including one from President Donald Trump, who shared a fake image on his Truth Social page. The phony image posted on the social media platform shows Trump and Parton with their arms interlocked as he leads her around the White House.
Additionally, someone in late August uploaded an AI tune, l“I’ll Miss You Dolly.” Also, it was incorrectly attributed to Dolly Parton’s goddaughter and pop singer Miley Cyrus, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Dolly Parton’s niece, singer-songwriter Jada Star Roberts, recently told Extra that her late aunt chose to keep her health struggles private.
"All of these tributes have helped so much to help us all through it,” Roberts, whose stage name is Jada Star, said.
She added that her aunt’s death has been “really difficult and very surreal” for the family, but the outpouring of love from the country music legend’s fans has been “really bittersweet.”
“I can’t remember a life without her. She would also tell us to start drying it up and start trying to get back to work and love each other real hard. She was just a trip,” Roberts said regarding her aunt.
