Post-Election: What Do We Do Now?

Many conservative Christians are asking themselves in the aftermath of the election, "What do I do now?" The answer depends on your diagnosis of the condition of the nation and what you can do about that.

As I have written in my column, this is a nation in transition. Younger people, especially, no longer accept the biblical principles of their grandparents, if they indeed believed in them. Many are the products of divorce or cohabiting. They have not seen demonstrated the love and commitment they've only heard about. And so if they haven't experienced a loving earthly father, an appeal to an all-loving heavenly Father is likely to fall on deaf ears.

Only God's intervention will turn America around, and that won't come through the political process. "Not by might, not by power, but by My spirit," He says. So if you want change for the better, not the kind of change we're seeing now, be obedient to what Jesus commanded and taught. First and foremost was this: "My kingdom is not of this world." And then read 2 Timothy 3 for what Paul said the end times would look like. Rejoice if you are a believer because everything is right on schedule.

I'm Cal Thomas.
