Korean-American Seminarian Nurtures Native Americans
Spanning many cultures, Paula Kim, a Korean-American student at a Southern Baptist seminary, ministers to Native Americans in Arizona, notes Baptist Press news service. Kim uses patience, wisdom and joy in reaching out to Navajo and Apache Indians, according to Charlotte Campsen, whose husband, Al, is director for the Four Corners Baptist Association of northwest Arizona.

Kim said her goal is to "raise up" Native American church leaders from among the 11 churches involved. She described her work as letting them do everything themselves. "They are very capable," she added.

They still see Christianity as not "belonging to them," pointing out the need for missionaries to allow Native American believers to take the lead. Kim added that with existing conditions there, "I really feel like I'm in a Third World (country)...but there have been some great victories."
