Walking with Jesus to the Cross: A Scripture Reading Plan for Lent

Lent is a 40-day journey (not counting Sundays) of six weeks, designed to help us focus on walking spiritually with Jesus on his way to the cross so we’ll be prepared to celebrate his resurrection on Easter. Reading Scripture from the Bible during Lent helps us pay close attention to the journey Jesus took as our Savior, as well as to the journey that Jesus is calling us to take in our lives to grow spiritually. Every Bible passage that relates to Lent can help us connect more closely with Jesus as we reflect on what he did for us, why it matters, and how it can empower us today.
God promises in Jeremiah 29:13: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Following a Scripture reading plan for Lent can help us seek God wholeheartedly and discover new aspects of who he is that inspire us and motivate us to grow closer to him. So, let’s look forward to what we can learn from reading his Word throughout Lent! Here’s a Scripture reading plan for all six weeks of Lent.
