10 Pro-Life Celebrities Who Aren't Afraid to Speak Up

With the advent of ultrasounds, unborn babies may be voiceless, but they’re not invisible. Their heartbeats can be heard. It’s the Devil’s lie that these aren’t precious little human beings to be incubated and nourished in their mommy’s tummy until they burst forth with their first breath and cry. Both bodies are intertwined from the moment of conception, bonding even before birth. That’s how God designed the mystery and majesty of creation.

Yet many still want the “right” to eliminate that human being, even after the baby takes its first breath! Such barbaric depravity is championed and endorsed by pro-choice celebrities. Pro-life celebrities are often blacklisted and risk their careers if they speak out for the sanctity of life for the unborn, yet many of them courageously still do.

With Roe v Wade mercifully overturned by the Supreme Court and the issue of abortion returned to the states, the fight for life is now at the local level, and pro-life celebrities could lend their influence to eliminating abortion in their states. Who among them will be brave and bold enough to continue standing against the travesty of abortion?

What Does it Mean to Be Pro-Life?

The theme of the March for Life in January 24, 2020, epitomizes the Pro-Life movement—Life Empowers: Pro-Life is Pro-Woman! Eve, whose name means “Life-giving” or “Mother of All Who Have Life,” was the first mother from which the entire world would populate.

Only a woman is empowered by God from the beginning of time with the capability, responsibility, and privilege of carrying a human life in her womb. To feel her baby as it grows. The first kick. The first hiccup. The first rollover. That’s our amazing joy as women to bring another person into the world. New creations, each one designed by God unique with its own DNA, fingerprint, and purpose.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. Ps. 139:13-14 NLT

In 2020, President Trump made history as the first sitting President to attend a March for Life rally and speak unashamedly about his pro-life stance. As I watched him greet the crowd, he reiterated how proud he was to stand with the advocates for life to “protect the right of every child, born and unborn, to fulfill their God-given potential.” Then he went on to describe what it means to be pro-life and why it’s so important.

“All of us here today understand an eternal truth: Every child is a precious and sacred gift from God. Together, we must protect, cherish, and defend the dignity and the sanctity of every human life.”

“When we see the image of a baby in the womb, we glimpse the majesty of God’s creation.”

“As the Bible tells us, each person is wonderfully made.”

“Together, we are the voice for the voiceless.”

10 Pro-Life Celebrities Who Aren't Afraid to Speak Up

Here are ten pro-life celebrities willing to speak up against abortion. Many have personal stories, or their view is steeped in faith. These aren’t the only brave celebrities, and we can pray that even more will come forward in the coming days.

1. President Donald Trump

When President Trump spoke at the March for Life rally, he was asked about changing his view to pro-life years ago and promising to select pro-life Supreme Court Justices, which he did. Trump said he became pro-life while watching a friend and his wife consider abortion.

2. Patricia Heaton

The Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle star, Heaton is an outspoken Christian on Twitter, where regularly she is attacked for her pro-life views. The title on a recent pro-life article read: “Actress Patricia Heaton: Standing Strong for Pro-life Cause in Hollywood.” She’s been named an honorary chair of Feminists for Life of America. A pro-life website ran an article that said, “Celebrities such as actress Patricia Heaton are using their platforms to promote a life-affirming message.” Live Action described her, “Heaton is one of a few pro-life celebrities, and a breath of fresh air in the industry. Her message not only promotes life, but the good work that pregnancy centers do.”

3. Jack Nicholson

Writer, director, producer, and actor Jack Nicholson has received the most Oscar nominations of any male actor. Nicholson’s mother was pregnant as a teenager. Pressured and forced into an abortion, which she eventually refused, shaped Nicholson’s view on abortion. “I don’t have the right to any other view. My only emotion is gratitude, literally, for my life.”

4. Kathy Ireland

A model popular in the ‘80s and ‘90s, appearing on the covers of magazines like Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, and an actress in multiple television shows and movies, Kathy Ireland now has a multi-billion-dollar clothing line. She isn’t afraid to be pro-life. She’s advocated for the defunding of Planned Parenthood and keynoted at a Council for Life Luncheon.

5. Martin Sheen

A liberal Democrat on most issues, famous actor Martin Sheen is pro-life. He’s a Roman Catholic pro-lifer, even being named a “Remarkable Pro-Life Man” by Feminists for Life. He has also spoken out about his wife’s conception from a rape. Her mother considered aborting her and, after the birth, dumping her in the Ohio River, but instead chose to give her daughter, Sheen’s wife, life!

6. Kirk Cameron

Christian actor Kirk Cameron tells his family’s story that his wife Chelsea “almost didn’t exist because her mother considered aborting her. Chelsea was one doctor appointment away from not existing.” But her birthmother chose life for her, and she was adopted. “Our first four children are also adopted. They were ‘this close’ to not being here, and if my wife Chelsea had not been born, our two natural-born children would not exist either.”

Cameron has an upcoming film “Lifemark” that highlights the life of the unborn and “the beauty of adoption.” He was also the keynote speaker at the 2022 March for Life where he told the crowd, “We’ve got our marching orders from the Executive in heaven, and those mandates tell us to continue loving God, loving one another, and standing for life.”

7. Tim Tebow

Tebow is a Christian who played in the NFL for the New York Jets and drew both criticism and praise when he wrote Bible verses on his cheeks during games, prayed on the field, and is a vocal pro-lifer. He appeared in a pro-life ad with his mother during Super Bowl XLIV telling the story of how his mother chose life for him, her fifth child. Tim relates, “Even when the doctors said it could and might cost her life, she decided she was going to trust God.”

8. Jim Caviezel

Caviezel is a Catholic who appeared as Jesus in the movie The Passion of the Christ and has starred in several other feature films and television shows. He’s an outspoken advocate for pro-life and speaks out against abortion and stem cell research. Caviezel has called abortion the ultimate evil, saying, “Abortion goes much further: when the mother herself kills her son she goes against her own nature, against her own instinct. People talk about ‘choice’, but when a woman does that, when she destroys the life of her unborn child, then, we have arrived at the limit. The level cannot go higher regarding evil.”

9. Elizabeth Hasselbeck

Hasselbeck recently returned to the TV program The View, where she was previously the voice of a conservative at the mostly liberal table. In her guest visit she dove into the abortion issue opposing the other pro-abortion hosts: "I believe our Creator assigned value to life, and that those lives have plan and purpose over them as designed by God that are not limited to the circumstances of conception, nor the situations they're born into," Hasselbeck said. "I do think there's options out there. There are thousands of agencies that wrap around women that might not be able to care for the baby once born or may not want the baby when they're pregnant, or maybe it was unexpected and they're in a hard situation, but that will come around at no cost and wrap around you. I might not change your minds, but I hope women out there now know to look for the nonprofits, look for the agencies that help you create a birth plan and match you with an adoptive family."

10. Andrea Bocelli

Blind Italian opera singer Bocelli made a video in 2010 telling his story that his mother was encouraged to have an abortion when she had appendicitis during pregnancy, but chose against aborting. He told the Italian newspaper II Foglio, “Because of my personal convictions as a devout Catholic, I am not only fighting against something, I am fighting for something - and I am for life.” He didn’t want his testimony to be considered merely anti-abortion, but also in support of life.

How Can We Speak Up for Life in Our Own Lives?

We can be a voice for the voiceless as so many were in the effort to overturn Roe v Wade, but now we need to be vocal in our individual states. We can’t stand idly by and do nothing or think abortion isn’t our issue because it might not affect us personally. Apathy is the antithesis of the Christian life. We need to let what breaks God’s heart, break our hearts.

You don’t have to walk in a march or carry a sign to be an advocate for life, although you can if the Lord leads you to. But we do have the right and obligation to vote and campaign for this Human Rights Issue. With our empowered vote, we choose legislatures, representatives, and presidents who don’t just talk about changing the status quo, but are willing to risk their political future and reputation to save the next generation of babies.

Silence is compliance. Not taking a stand for right is inadvertently taking a stand for wrong. No woman or man should have the right to make a choice that ends in savagely taking a life and calling it legal.

If you have a burden in your heart for the millions of babies tortured, dismembered, and horrifically burned every second of every day, ask God to show you opportunities to boldly speak up and stand up for life. Pray for those on the frontlines of the battle in the states and pray for the Pregnancy Help Centers, maybe volunteer or donate to one. There’s no denying there will be a price to pay for this bloodstain on our nation as God asks: Why aren’t you saving the lives of the children?

But the Lord says, “The captives of warriors will be released, and the plunder of tyrants will be retrieved. For I will fight those who fight you, and I will save your children. Is. 49:25 NLT

Those who will use the power we give them to not simply maintain limits on abortion, but abolish it completely.

An Unplanned Pregnancy Saved Us All!

Mary and Joseph didn’t plan their pregnancy, but God did, just as He plans each and every pregnancy. God picks the time of each child’s conception! Sometimes His timing coincides with our desires, but like everything God does, it’s not always on our terms or times. That’s why He’s God, and we’re not.

The case for abortion is based on lies and manipulation. Abortion funds industries and organizations who lie to women and tell them their baby isn’t human and that they won’t feel a thing. The truth is they’ll feel their searing loss for the rest of their lives. Those women, including celebrities, who sadly tout and brag about how liberating their abortions have been are trying to convince themselves that they didn’t really eliminate their own children.

Abortion has become the accepted crime of unbridled passion and lust. There’s no justification for having convenient sex and killing an inconvenient baby that results. Our culture today is playing God by choosing who can live and who should die. God bless the celebrities willing to use their platform to choose life.
