Asia Bibi is growing increasingly weak as she awaits an appeal in prison. Her family says that Bibi is suffering from intestinal bleeding and needs immediate medical care.
Bibi’s family were permitted to visit her in prison at the end of May, Christian Today reports. Her relatives said Bibi was weakened to the degree that she could barely walk.
A source said Bibi also suffers from constant pain in the chest and vomiting.
The Pakistani Christian mother of five is on death row for speaking against the prophet Muhammad in 2010. Bibi denied the blasphemy accusations that were levelled against her by former colleagues.
In a previous interview, Bibi’s husband, Ashiq Massih said that his family is forced to live in hiding to avoid death threats.
"We live in hiding. It's very hard especially for the children. They can't settle down or study. It's not a normal life to be constantly living in fear,” Massih told the BBC.
