Billy Graham: Only Person God Can’t Forgive is One who Doesn’t Seek Forgiveness

Well-known evangelist Billy Graham says that no sin is too big or small for God to forgive, and all those who come to God in repentance will receive forgiveness.

Christian Today reports that Graham quoted Isaiah 55:7 which says, “Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.”

Graham went on to say that the only thing separating a person from God’s forgiveness is their unwillingness to come to him and receive it.

"The only person God can never forgive is the person who refuses to seek his forgiveness. Why, then, would anyone refuse to turn to God and seek his forgiveness? Why would anyone refuse the gift of eternal life God offers to all who put their faith and trust in Christ?" Graham asked.

Graham went on to list the reasons why people hesitate to come to God for forgiveness. He said that sometimes people do not come to God because they believe what they have done is too terrible for God to forgive, some don’t come to God because they don’t want their sin to be exposed and have to turn from the sinful life they are living, still others don’t seek forgiveness because they hate God and do not want anything to do with him.

Graham then went on to admonish people that whatever their excuse, they should be reminded that God purchased forgiveness for them at a costly price and he is pleading for them to come to him and accept it.

“But whatever their excuse, there's no reason for anyone to turn away from God and refuse his gift of forgiveness — a gift that Christ purchased at the cost of His life,” Graham stated. “God loves you,” he continued, “and no matter what your past has been, God wants to forgive you and welcome you home."
