CA Attorney General Facing Criticism in Confiscation of Undercover Planned Parenthood Videos

California’s attorney general who commissioned the raid on the home of anti-abortion activist and undercover journalist David Daleiden is being criticized for a conflict of interest in seeking to convict Daleiden.

FoxNews.com reports that Kamala Harris, California’s Democratic attorney general, is running for U.S. Senate, and her campaign website has a link to a petition in support of Planned Parenthood. 

Many are calling Harris’s obvious support of Planned Parenthood and simultaneous prosecution of the anti-abortion activist whose undercover videos allegedly expose the clinic’s illegal practices a conflict of interest.

Harris dispatched 11 agents to Daleiden’s home to confiscate evidence in the case against Daleiden and fellow undercover journalist Sandra Merritt. The agents took Daleiden’s laptop and hard drives, although Daleiden said they did not take documents which he says implicate Planned Parenthood in the sale of fetal body parts.

Daleiden and the organization he founded, the Center for Medical Progress, filmed and released more than a dozen undercover videos purporting to show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the extraction and sale of fetal tissue obtained in abortions.

Planned Parenthood was initially prosecuted, but a grand jury acquitted the clinic and instead indicted Daleiden and Merritt on felonies such as using a fake driver’s license as part of the undercover project.

“Kamala Harris is engaged in the highest level of corruption and abuse of power,” said Penny Nance, of Concerned Women for America. “While she uses her KGB-like tactics to seize personal property of an innocent American citizen, she’s simultaneously running for U.S. Senate and using her campaign web site to promote and defend Planned Parenthood and its atrocious practice of harvesting, trafficking and selling baby parts.”
