Chris Cuomo Accused of Sexual Harassment, Fired from CNN

A former colleague of the now-fired CNN anchor Chris Cuomo is accusing him of sexual harassment, according to NPR.
The news comes just after CNN fired Cuomo from his role at the news station after “new information came to light about his involvement with his brother’s defense.”
According to NPR, a former colleague of Cuomo’s at ABC News said that he sexually assaulted her in the workplace. Details have not been released about the alleged incident, and the woman has chosen to remain anonymous, her attorney, Debra Katz, said.
“My client came forward at this time because she felt in sharing her story and related documentation, she could help protect other women,” Katz said.
Matt Dornic, head of communications for CNN, said Cuomo violated the terms of his contract, and when “the new allegations came to us … we took them seriously, and saw no reason to delay taking immediate action.”
Cuomo tweeted his response to his firing, saying it was “disappointing.”
“This is not how I want my time at CNN to end, but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother,” he said in his tweet.

Cuomo’s spokesperson Steven Goldberg denied the new sexual harassment allegations.
In September, Cuomo’s former executive producer at ABC wrote that Cuomo sexually harassed her by “grabbing her buttocks at a going-away party in 2005, saying ‘I can do this now that you’re no longer my boss.’”
She said Cuomo apologized to her and her husband later.
Cuomo was first accused of helping his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, fight sexual harassment allegations.
Documents showed that Cuomo used his contacts to investigate the governor’s accusers. Cuomo also consulted with some of those contacts to help his brother manage the fallout from the accusations. Andrew Cuomo stepped down from his governor’s seat in August.
