Summer forest fires have been sweeping through Greece. One of the places devastated by the wildfires was a Christian summer camp.

ChristianToday.com reports that the “Kalamos” camp, which is run by the Greek Evangelical Church, is located in the area of Kalamos and the Holy Apostles, which is north of Athens.

As many as 150 firefighters with 68 vehicles were working to fight the blaze, but they were unable to save the Christian camp.

“Our camp burned down from the flames of the forest fire. The fire left only remaining of metal elements and buildings,”  camp president Stamatis Voliotis posted on his Facebook page.

“The picture is tragic! That does not mean, that the beauty of the place we knew, its perfume, the joy, the happy moments and blessings we experienced in every corner of His camp and camp are forgotten or covered by the smoke!” Voliotis added.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the blaze. Greece has been battling wildfires over the course of the summer, with exceptionally hot temperatures contributing to the onslaught. This particular blaze was reportedly brought under control earlier this week.
