A Catholic church in Colorado has been vandalized by suspected pro-choice activists with graffiti.

The damage came just days after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to block a Texas law that bans abortion at about six weeks or when a baby’s heartbeat can be detected.

According to The Christian Post, Vandals targeted St. Louis Catholic Church in the Boulder suburb of Louisville over the weekend. The church doors were spray-painted in pink-colored lettering, reading, “My body, My choice.”

Another marker on the property, which reads “Respect Life,” was vandalized to read, “Respect Bodily Autonomy.”

Yet, another sign at the church was also defaced with the words, “bans off our bodies.”

According to the Louisville Police Department, surveillance footage captured three people on the church property at 1:30 am Sunday morning.

“The actions of these individuals are not representative of the residents of Louisville, nor do they reflect the mission of our city,” Louisville Police Chief Dave Hayes said.

“The true representation of the community in Louisville are those that surrounded St Louis Catholic Church and helped remove the graffiti Sunday after Mass,” he added.

The vandalism comes in response to Senate Bill 8, a law in Texas that went into effect on September 1. The law bans abortions after a baby’s heartbeat is detected and allows private citizens to file lawsuits against abortion providers or anyone else who tries to help a woman seek an illegal abortion.

“Today is a historic and hopeful day,” said Human Coalition Action Texas Legislative Director Chelsey Youman in a statement in response to the Supreme Court allowing the Texas law to take effect.

“Texas is the first state to successfully protect the most vulnerable among us, preborn children, by outlawing abortion once their heartbeats are detected. A fetal heartbeat is a clear and scientifically acknowledged sign of human life.”

Meanwhile, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the law “the most extreme, dangerous abortion ban in half a century.”
