Democrats Seek Fresh Face for 2020

In the next Presidential election, it’s no surprise that Democrats want a strong candidate to run against President Donald Trump. While there is still support for previous Democratic candidates, such as Sen. Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, many democrats are interested in seeing someone new run for office.

A poll, published by Rasmussen, reports, “A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 73% of Likely Democratic Voters believe their party should look for a fresh face to run for president in 2020.” With such a significant majority of likely democrats polling this way, the DNC will probably take notice.

Hot Air comments on this finding, “That’s bad news for Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden and will hopefully be enough to prevent Hillary Clinton from talking herself into a 3rd run.”

An interesting finding from this survey is that women are in the majority of those who believe a new candidate will help democrats in the next election: “Women believe even more strongly than men that Democrats need to find a fresh face for 2020. There’s little difference of opinion on this question among voters of all ages.” In addition, 72 % of black voters, 65% of white voters, and 60% minority voters agree on the subject.

Even among voters who believe Clinton has been good for Democrats, 62% believe the party needs to nominate a fresh face in 2020. Sixty-seven percent (67%) of those who think she’s been bad for the party agree,” Rasmussen comments.

Who will lead the Democratic Party in the next election? Hot Air speculates that Sen. Kamala Harris is a front-runner:

“Sen. Kamala Harris has been planning to run for president for at least a year. Last May McClatchy ran a story suggesting she was making the first moves. And in July there were reports she was meeting with Clinton donors in the Hamptons. “She’s running for president. Take it to the bank,” one fundraiser told the Hill.”
