Dozens of Christians have been beaten and brutally killed in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to Mission Network News.

The eastern part of the country is reportedly a much more dangerous place than the western part. The Christians who were killed were targeted by Islamic radicals who murdered them using axes and machetes.

Missionary Mark Luckey with Every Child Ministries, said there is little evidence of violence in the western part of the country where he works, however.

Luckey explained the ministry with which he is involved: “There’s actually a couple different aspects to the ministry of ECM in Congo. One would be the training ministry…they [ECM] started two training schools. One in the rural area of Garzi and the other in the capital city urban area of Kinshasa.”

The ministry also works closely with children in the area. “I wanted to check on our street ministry to children in Kinshasa. And that one I found needs more funding, but what they’re doing is very good. . . Vocational ministries to street children I found to be the real necessary, helpful ministry to those kids,” Luckey explained.

Every Child Ministries also focuses on spreading the Gospel to the children they are helping. Many children hear the Gospel for the first time while with the ministry.

Luckey stressed that great work is being done in the DRC. To find out about how you can help, click here.
