Hillary Clinton on the Importance of Prayer: 'I Pray on a Pretty Regular Basis'

Hillary Clinton answered a question about prayer during Saturday evening’s Democratic presidential debate.

Vox.com reports that a woman identified only as Denise, asked Clinton to whom and for whom she prays.

"I have said many times that I am a praying person, and if I hadn't been during the time I was in the White House, I would have become one," Clinton stated to laughter from the crowd.

Clinton added that she prays specifically for people whom she knows who are going through difficult times. She also prays for “the will of God to be known” and that she and others would fulfill it “to the best of our limited ability.”

Clinton said she also prays for people in authority, even those she does not necessarily agree with.

"I try to think about what they're going through even when I disagree with them," she said. "Trying to find some common ground, some common understanding that perhaps can make me more empathetic. I don't always succeed. I will tell you that."

She added that humility is important, especially for someone seeking to hold the highest office in the nation.

“I pray on a pretty regular basis during the day because I need that strength and I need that support,” she said.
