A new documentary titled Facing Darkness is making headlines within Christian circles for its breathtaking tale of the American missionaries who worked to save victims of the Liberian Ebola outbreak.

According to CBN News, Facing Darkness follows the work of Samaritan’s Purse volunteers who were instrumental in treating Ebola cases within Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. The film make specific note of Dr. Kent Brantly, who contracted the disease and survived. Franklin Graham, who heads Samaritan’s Purse, has proudly endorsed the movie, stating,

“‘If we put our faith and trust in God's son Jesus Christ, if He is in our boat we don't have to worry about that boat sinking. And He did with Dr. Brantly and I want the world to see what God did. I am hoping God will use this to bring up an army of young people who will say, 'Here I am, send me,’”

Ebola is considered one of the world’s more deadly viruses, and is responsible for the death of almost 30,000 people over the course of two years. The filmmakers behind Facing Darkness hope the documentary will challenge viewers to become more involved in worldwide affairs, while providing encouragement for those in the midst of fearful circumstances.
