Jewish, Christian, and Muslim Leaders Join Together to Advocate for Religious Tolerance

Faith leaders from Jewish, Muslim, and Christian faiths recently met in Los Angeles to discuss tolerance and ways to promote peace in the world.

CBN News reports that the faith leaders met at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, California.

King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has spearheaded a movement of tolerance in Bahrain, which Christian leader Rev. Johnnie Moore described at the event as a light in the midst of so much darkness in the Middle East.

Al Khalifa authored a document titled “Bahrain Declaration for Religious Tolerance,” which the Simon Wiesenthal Center, which was co-sponsoring the event, said "calls for people of all faiths to show respect for, and protection of, the rights of everyone to practice their religious affiliations in dignity and peace.”

Speakers at the event included Prince Nasser bin Hamad al Khalifa of Bahrain, Rabbi Marvin Hier, the founder and dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance, Muhammed Khan, the director of Interfaith Outreach of the King Fahd Mosque in Los Angeles, and Rev. Johnnie Moore, a board member of the National Association of Evangelicals and an expert on the Middle East conflict.

The event also included a special guest: a woman whose son had been killed when an ISIS suicide bomber blew himself up inside the mosque where the woman’s son had been worshipping.

Instead of turning to hate and bitterness, however, the woman reached out to the suicide bomber’s mother and extended forgiveness.

This woman exemplified the tolerant, peaceful spirit which the faith leaders were championing at the event.

"With forgiveness, with tolerance... this world is going to be a much, much better world," said Prince Nasser bin Hamad al Khalifa.
