Nineteen people have been killed and at least 50 have been injured when an explosive device detonated during an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, UK.

Manchester police are currently investigating the horrific incident as a possible suicide attack. They have not yet identified a perpetrator and news sources are currently waiting on a news briefing with police.

"This is currently being treated as a terrorist incident until police know otherwise," Manchester police said on Twitter. "We can confirm there was an incident as people were leaving the Ariana Grande show last night. The incident took place outside the venue in a public space. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims," they added.

According to CNN, the explosion occurred around 10 p.m. local time. Concert-goers rushed to exit the Manchester Arena where the concert was taking place. Footage following the explosion shows a frantic mass of people streaming down the stairs and trying to exit the Arena as quickly as possible amid the chaos.

In a statement, UK Prime Minister Theresa May said, “We are working to establish the full details of what is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack. All our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those who have been affected."
