The 10 Republican presidential candidates on the main stage in Boulder, CO on Wednesday evening for the third Republican debate sparred with each other, but also aimed some hard-hitting remarks at the media.

Time.com reports that the media, and specifically the CNBC moderators, were the clear losers of the debate. A number of candidates sidestepped questions they were asked to point out the media’s bias.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz began the criticism of the moderators by stating, “The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don’t trust the media. This is not a cage match.:

“How about talking about the substantive issues people care about?" Cruz continued. "The contrast with the Democratic debate, where every fawning question from the media was, ‘which of you is more handsome and wise?’”

Other candidates soon jumped on board, with Florida Senator Marco Rubio stating that “The Democrats have the ultimate Super Pac. It’s called the mainstream media.”

Rubio also successfully responded to Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s criticism of Rubio’s attendance record in the Senate, according to SRN News.

“Just resign and let someone else take the job,” Bush had said, referring to Rubio’s absence in the Senate while on the campaign trail.

Rubio responded that the only reason Bush was making it an issue was because the liberal media had run articles about it and “because we’re running for the same position, and someone has convinced you that attacking me is going to help you.”

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie also criticized the moderators after they asked the candidates a question about fantasy football.

“Are we really talking about getting the federal government involved in fantasy football?” the New Jersey Governor asked, according to Red Alert Politics. “Wait a second, we have $19 trillion in debt, we have people out of work, we have ISIS and Al Qaeda attacking us, and we’re talking about fantasy football?”

The crowd roared with approval to Christie’s comments.

SRN News reports that, although the frontrunners, Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump were not clear winners of the debate, they did perform fairly well.

Ari Fleischer, press secretary to George W. Bush, proclaimed Rubio the winner of the debate. “Rubio won tonight with wit, good humor, great one-liners and substance,” said Fleischer.

Cruz also did well for himself, and scored the highest amount of activity on social media.

In the closing comments of the debate, Trump reiterated his negotiating skills, stating that, with Ben Carson’s support, he had negotiated with CNBC to get the debate down to two hours, instead of three or three and a half “so we could get the hell out of here.” Trump vowed that he would use those negotiating skills to get America back on track.
