Outspoken Christian celebrity Jason David Frank will reportedly have a role in the new Power Rangers movie.

Frank starred in the original Power Rangers film from the 1990s as the Green/White Power Ranger. Christian Today reports that he will also make an appearance in the upcoming remake.

The new film has been immersed in some controversy, especially within the Christian community after it was revealed that the Yellow Power Ranger will be a lesbian character.

"For Trini (the Yellow Power Ranger), really she's questioning a lot about who she is," the film’s director Dean Israelite told The Hollywood Reporter. "She hasn't fully figured it out yet. I think what's great about that scene and what that scene propels for the rest of the movie is, 'That's OK.' The movie is saying, 'That's OK,' and all of the kids have to own who they are and find their tribe."

Frank’s appearance in the film may give Christians more of a reason to watch it, however.

He is outspoken about his faith and recently shared with CBN News about his faith journey which he said really began after he his brother passed away and he was dealing with the grief.

"I didn't really understand what the whole church thing was about," he admitted. "Then, when I lost my brother it was like people were telling me I need God and all that stuff, and I was like, 'If one more person tells me that, then that is what it is.'"

He began attending Crosby Church in Texas upon his wife’s invitation. It really appealed to him because the pastor was an athlete, just like Frank himself.

"I'm from Los Angeles, so this church is like cowboy boots. Pastor Keenan is breaking things and I was instantly attracted to him," Frank said. "I was like yeah, this guy. We sparred. We wrestled. And he used that to attract people to church."

Now Frank uses his own platform to share the Good News with people: "I reach five million people in a week through Facebook and Instagram, and I am just blessed to do that," he said.
