White House press secretary Sarah Sanders will leave the White House at the end of this month.

According to the Associated Press, President Trump announced in a tweet on Thursday that his trusted staff member will be leaving her position as his press secretary at the end of June and will head back to her home state of Arkansas.

"After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas," President Trump wrote in a tweet.

“She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas - she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done,” the president added.

Sanders responded to the Presidents’ praises in a tweet of her own where she expressed her gratefulness for Donald Trump.

The Press Secretary wrote, “I am blessed and forever grateful to @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to serve and proud of everything he’s accomplished. I love the President and my job.”

She continued, “The most important job I’ll ever have is being a mom to my kids and it’s time for us to go home. Thank you Mr. President!”

Sanders – a mother of three – was one of the few remaining people on President Trump’s staff who also worked on his campaign. Her tenure as press secretary is marked by her fierce defense of the President's and his administration's integrity. Sanders succeeded Sean Spicer who left the White House midway through 2017.
