Thousands have left their homes in Pakistan this week after flooding has threatened nearby cities.

The flash floods started in early September, causing landslides and washing away houses, bridges and crops. Officials say nearly 75,000 people have evacuated and that the floods are the worst to hit Pakistan since 2010.

“I have lost everything,” said Haleema Bibi, a woman who fled the flooding.

According to reports, more than 600 people have died in the floods in India and Pakistan. The prime ministers for both countries have offered to help each other, but the flooding is mainly in the Kashmir region, which is divided between Pakistan and India.

Water levels have jumped to 18 feet at some points of the Jhelum River.

“In Kashmir, the area where the flooding has been the worst, over 600 people have died, both on the Indian and Pakistani sides," Tearfund's head of Asia region, Sudarshan Sathianathan, told Christian Today.

"We've heard [from partner organizations] that this number is likely to increase simply because some of the remote areas have not yet been visited, and only when we get there will we realize quite what the situation is."
