Battle After Battle
by Berni Dymet

Deut. 6:18-19 Do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, so that it may go well with you, and so that you may go in and occupy the good land that the LORD swore to your ancestors to give you, thrusting out all your enemies from before you, as the LORD has promised.

So many things in life promise so much….. but in the end, they fail to deliver.  And my hunch is that for many people - that kind of sums up their experience of God too.

This Jesus seems to promise so much - peace and joy and a life lived in all its abundance - but somehow, the experience can fall short of the promise.

It must have felt a bit like that for Israel - after centuries in slavery and 40 years wandering in the desert - they were about to cross over into the Land that God promised Abraham all those years before - the promised land…..But as they looked ahead into that promise -what they saw was a whole bunch of tribes and nations that already owned it.

There'd have to be battle after battle to take this "promised land."

Could this really be one of God's promises?

But as they fought battle after battle they experienced the faithfulness of God first hand - as they took hold of His promised land.
