Indwelling Christ

August 1, 2013

“Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in them. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us”. - 1 John 3:24

Christ Himself is in Heaven, yet He indwells every believer and lives in us by the Holy Spirit. What does the Holy Spirit do for us? He makes Christ real to us. He causes us to know that His Spirit is in us. The Holy Spirit is the Christian life, and He lives the Christian life through us because it is impossible for us to do so in the flesh. Yet, Christ is not real to many Christians. Why is this so? The reason Christ is not real to them is because they are grieving the Holy Spirit.

When we grieve the Holy Spirit, He no longer manifests Christ to us and we lose our sense of the Lord’s presence. Christ never leaves us, but He does not seem real to us because we have grieved His Spirit. We restore our fellowship with God by confessing our sins; this will allow the Holy Spirit to make Christ real to us once again. Oh my friend, won’t you choose this day to confess and repent of all your sins and stay close and clean with your heavenly Father. This is how to make Christ real to you.
