Read: Malachi 2

Key Verse: “I hate divorce, says the Lord God of Israel, and I hate a man’s covering himself with violence as well as with his garment, says the Lord Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.” - Malachi 2:16

The world today is undermining the biblical definition of marriage. God created marriage. It is a gift from Him and the most intimate relationship between a man and a woman. Some people are given the gift of singleness, and it is a wonderful calling. When a husband and wife are married, it is a covenant between them and God. Marriage is a cord of three strands. Jesus should be at the center of every marriage.

Because marriage is a lifelong decision, it is important to pray for God’s wisdom in selecting a mate. The commitment to each other is more important than health, wealth, having a physical home, sickness, or any other challenges. A marriage should be protected, enjoyed, and cherished. Staying in prayer and the word together, a couple grows in their bond and closeness. God does not want people to be divorced, but united and making every effort to maintain unity. A marriage is designed to show the relationship between Jesus and the church (for more information about God’s design for marriage, read Ephesians chapter five)!
