To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven–things which angels desire to look into.
Have you ever considered that your life is a learning tool for the angels? Our lives not only show the world around us what we believe by what we do and say, but the angels themselves watch and learn. The question is, "What are they learning?" In 1 Peter 1, we catch a glimpse of the one thing they strongly desire to know about. This one thing causes them to actively look into our lives in an attempt to understand it. What is that thing they long to know about?
In short, it's the Gospel. They long to know more about the grace of God towards sinful men. For millennia, angels have watched humanity. They have seen us rebel against God, hate our brothers, lust after each other and even murder, yet when Jesus came to earth, they witnessed a love and grace beyond anything they had ever seen before. This love and grace is something they can never experience. Yes, God is their creator and their Lord and King, but He is not their Savior. Only humanity has the privilege of knowing God as a gracious Heavenly Father. Because of Jesus, we are His children for all eternity. This is the beautiful thing that the angels love to look upon. Now the question remains, "Are we displaying the power of the Gospel to the angels in our own life?"
Life Lesson: Christians are God's prime example of His love, grace and mercy.
Thank You for the relationship that I can have with You through Jesus Christ. I desire to be a display of Christ's love and grace to all those around me, including the heavenly hosts. Fill me with Your Spirit and guide me by Your Word so that I can be a witness for You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Living to tell what He died to say,
