Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up. (Dan 3:17-18)
All kinds of false faiths are being promoted in the world today. “If you give me enough money,” or “If you summon up enough faith, then God will give you what you want.” But such teachings prey on the poor, the desperate, and the needy.
True faith is not about demanding what we want and hoping God will make it happen. True faith is doing what God commands and trusting in him regardless of the results.
The book of Daniel provides a perfect example. When the prophet’s friends were tested, they did not waver. They said, “Our God is able to deliver us. He gave us life. He can rescue us just as easily. But even if he doesn’t, we will still serve him.” May that be our response to trials, as well.
Prayer: Lord, give me the strength to remain faithful to you in trials, regardless of the outcome.
