I Can’t Take It Anymore
Every boiler has a pressure gauge. That gauge is an extremely valuable indicator of the health of the system. The boiler engineer adjusts the pressure so that it stays within the limits for which it was designed. He knows that if the water level gets too low, the steam gets angry. He doesn’t want it to blow open any joints or pipes on his watch.
When Christians suffer, and especially when they have it really bad, we’re tempted to think that God isn’t paying attention, or worse, doesn’t care. Did you know that the opposite is true? Like a skilled boiler engineer, God watches each of us in our struggles, and he carefully sets limits to our pressures according to what he knows about our inner abilities.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”
He made you. He loves you. He knows your limits.
