A Mother's Calling
During my childhood my mother worked outside the home full-time and somehow managed to raise five kids. With that as a backdrop, when I married Kathy, I assumed she would always work outside the home as well.
She did, until we discovered that my son, Jeremy, had autism and needed more help than a daycare could provide. Kathy’s new vocational calling became a stay-at-home mom.
Bothof her vocations proved critical in shaping, providing, and raising our three children.
Proverbs 31:31, speaking of mothers, says, “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
As we head into Mother’s Day, let’s honor all mother’s, regardless of the location of their vocation. Their calling as a mother is crucial.
