What Will They Think: Right Is Right

Today's Scripture

"The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other." Galatians 5:17 NLT

Thoughts for Today

Moses shunned social status and the pleasures of sin and set aside prosperity to be faithful to God's plan for his life. He refused the world's offers in the most advanced culture of its day.

William Penn said, "Right is right even if everyone is against it, and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it." (Tan, Paul Lee, Encyclopedia of 7700 Illustrations, Assurance Publishers, Rockville, 1979, 283)

Following Christ sometimes requires decisions not popular or favored by the majority. But opinion polls change daily - God's principles of living are eternal.

Consider this …

What is the most decisive action you have taken since becoming a Christian? Can you think of a decision you have made in following Christ that has cost you friendships, promotions, money, or something else?

Are you struggling with such a decision now? Is there an area in your life where you are compromising what you know to be right? Today's scripture describes the struggle that takes place between our sinful nature and what the Spirit of God wants. Right is right . . . and wrong is wrong. No matter what people say or think.

Don't miss the blessings God wants you to have. Choose his way , , , always the right way.

Prayer

Lord, help me focus on the truth of your Word - not on people's opinions. Help me seek your approval, not theirs. In Jesus' name . . .
